What is the Harris Chain of Lakes?

The Harris Chain of Lakes is world renowned for its natural beauty, great fishing and boating events.  These lakes are dark and rich in nutrients.  These 8 lakes are: Lake Beauclair, Lake Carlton, Lake Dora, Lake Eustis, Lake Griffin, Lake Harris and Little Lake Harris.  Navigation is possible from lake to lake through canals and locks leading to rivers that can take you to the Atlantic Ocean. 

Waterfront property owners enjoy lake settings with direct access to these Chain of Lakes.  Water levels are cyclical and managed by the St. John River Water Management District.  Improvements are continually being made to create a healthy water eco system and manage the waters for the benefit of the Golden Triangle without limiting the flourishing Bass fishery.

What is the Golden Triangle?

In Lake County, there are three Harris Chain of Lake's waterfront cities that form a triangle on a map.  Accessible by boat, seaplane, car, bicycle and train, each city hosts an array of Festivals, Regattas, Tournaments, Shows and Events.  They are what locals call, the Golden Triangle.

*  Mount Dora - Annually hosts the: Arts Festival, Music Festival, Antique Festival, Sail Boat Regatta, Taste of Mount Dora, Bicycle Festival, Craft Fair, Mt. Dora Plant and Garden Fair, Lighted Boat Parade, and holiday events.  During winter season, downtown Mount Dora will host a variety of monthly street fairs that include extended shop hours with musicians, wine tastings and art openings.

*  Tavares - Soon to have a Seaplane base, annually hosts the:  Train Festival, Brass Pro Crappie Tournaments, Harry Card Chain-of-Lakes Steamboat meet, Classic Race Boat Association Regatta, Sunnyland Antique and Classic Boat Society Show, Dragon Boat Festival, Planes Trains & BBQ,  impromptu car shows and holiday events.

*  Eustis - Known for its monthly FREE First Friday Street Festival and its FREE Eustis Downtown Cruise-In for the car enthusiasts (we have a lot of them here!).  Annually there is the Lake County Fair, George Fest; and, Beer*BBQ*Bikes and Bands.

There is a southern charm set in these hills (yes, hills in Florida) that remind visitors of quaint, Eastern coastal towns.
